Well, we have started school again this week. It has not been an easy transition back into our routine (mostly hard on me). We have been hard at work trying to fit in the subjects we need to cover. I am very proud of the kids. They have picked up where we left off and are doing great.
Our weather has not been so great. I have to work really hard to come up with reasons why we like it here, because quite honestly - I hate the winter wind!!!!! And unfortunately we have a lot of it!
What I really wanted to write about today was a topic that came up on an email list I'm on. The question was asked, "What is the best thing you have done with your kids." My answer was rather simple: family dinners. I fully recognize that my kids are very young and I still have a lot of "doing" left to do with them. However, I pray that we continue to value the simplicity of gathering around the dinner table. Something so simple yet so meaningful. Family dinners are one of my treasured memories growing up, so I am bias. Rob and I have shared glances across the table recognizing what joy our children bring us. Sure - dinner brings a chaos all of its own, but it's a different kind of craziness. One that we all can delight in (most of the time). I thank the Lord for such a blessing as gathering around the table as a Christian family, sharing in God's gifts.
