The
familiar sound of a summer evening, the constant buzz of cicadas (also referred to as locusts) resonates through the air. Nathaniel recently found a
cicada shell. After learning that the bug climbs out of it when it has grown to a bigger size, he decided it was lots of fun to go searching for these skeletons. Yesterday he came running into the house yelling, "Mom you gotta come see this!! I found a cicada shell and next to it a real, live cicada!" So of course I went to see the excitement and this is what we found.
Boys and Bugs! I love how you can see his excitement in finding those bugs in the last pictures! We we have some great vacations with all these boys (& one girl) some day...
ReplyDeletewe were just learning about cicadas in science yesterday! Did you know there is a particular one that sleeps underground for 17 years before it hatches? All at once of course, all skilgillion of them, but only every 17 years. Weird, huh?
