At last!

For some reason Luke has been very hesitant on the potty training idea. In fact he has expressed it very clearly, "I love my diapers!" Being the youngest of the bunch, I have been getting anxious for him to learn to be a "big boy" like his brothers. He is quickly approaching 3, yet until now has had no desire to go potty in a big boy way. Well that all changed this past Wednesday evening. After bath time, for some strange reason he agreed to wear underwear for awhile. Well I took my chance and talked up those underwear as if they were the best thing ever.
"Aren't those underwear soft? They feel so much better than diapers!!"
"Babies use diapers. Are you a baby or a big boy? Big boys use the potty."

Well you get the idea. And the light bulb seemed to go off. He decided he wasn't a baby, but a big boy. So unexpectedly we began potty training. We spent all day Thursday working on it. This is where it comes in handy to have siblings. The older kids were so excited for Luke, which in turn makes it so much more exciting for him. Noah was especially helpful. He has such a gentle, patient personality. He read Luke many books that day.

So...at last...we are near the end of our diaper buying days!

As you can see, Luke is very proud!
Such a great big brother.

Sporting a new look

Cowboy boots and little underwear...
doesn't get much cuter than this!

In the midst of my diaper changing days, I never thought I would be sad to see them go. Well I'm not, however it does pull at my heart strings to see all my kids growing so fast. We no longer have a baby in the house, that stirs some emotion. I am also equally excited to move on to the next phase, a house full of school age children. Oh the fun we will have! Way to go Luke...your a big boy now!
