Gardening

In the past few years, I have become quite fond of gardening. I love seeing a tiny seed turn into a luscious green plant producing amazing produce right before my eyes. Gardening is soothing. Maybe it's because I don't sweat it if things don't turn out how I planned. Simply observing what works and what doesn't is a continuous learning process. I'm no farmer, however it would be wonderful to be blessed with the sense and skills of one. I read books from the library, gain enough knowledge to make me dangerous and then I take the plunge with both feet. Here is what I came up with this year.

Tomatoes...our cherry variety did especially well this year.

Green beans...we made several meals
from this bunch. Next year I plan to do
many more, in hopes of freezing some.

Peppers!!! Green chili, red chili, and Hungarian hot wax pepper

Exciting...the green chili is growing
and looking great!

Carrots and onions

Bell peppers

Banana peppers

Swiss chard

Basil...pesto...delicious

Onions are getting bigger!

Red chilies

Cherry tomatoes

Cucumbers

Yellow cherry pear tomatoes

My #1 garden helper...Nathaniel.
He is out at the garden more than I
am. He keeps track of what is ready.

  1. Wow, Amy! What a wonderful garden you put together this year... Glad to hear someone was blessed with good fruits, my garden was a flop this year. I bet it is fun to have a little sidekick helping you out!

  2. That is so beautiful. I did a garden one year but I was not that successful. Maybe as Madelynn gets older we will try again. Do you guys have a late season up there? It seems like things are just getting ready to pick.

  3. We still have about a month left of really good weather. After that it's questionable. I took these pictures about 3 weeks ago and just got around to posting them.

  4. Wow! I'm impressed Amy.

You'll have to give me some pointers when I've got some decent soil to work with.
