I had high hopes of getting some great pictures on this wonderful day, but I found that we were hopping from one activity to another. We began the day with a special trip to Barnes and Nobles, where we enjoyed a "kid coffee" (strawberries and creme frappuccino). Then Nathaniel was allowed to pick out a book. We had fun sipping on our coffees and looking at all the wonderful books. For our family, the book store is just as enticing as the toy store. Later that afternoon we made the birthday cookie cake, but waited for dad to come home to do the honors of decorating it. Nathaniel received some birthday packages in the mail, finding some cool new toys sent his way. In all the excitement I missed picture taking opportunities. Nathaniel had also decided he wanted tortillas for dinner. I thought I would try to make homemade tortillas since we can't find good flour tortillas here in Fort Wayne. So needless to say I spent some time rolling dough. But, we all enjoyed and had a great family dinner. Dad came home with a couple surprises as well. He picked up some little LED flashlights, which he turned in to homemade light sabers. He also bought Nathaniel his own, REAL, hammer. Nathaniel couldn't contain his excitement. He couldn't stop talking about how cool dad was and repeated a dozen times, to whoever was in an ear shot, that dad actually made a light saber.
Trying out his new hammer!
Birthday cookie time!
