Oh Nathaniel!!!!
A couple of weeks after we moved in, Nathaniel was practicing his launching skills by jumping off the stairs. Well, he miscalculated and landed wrong. I thought he would just shake it off like he normally does, but not so lucky this time. I decided to take him to the doctor. After 2 hours of waiting, x-rays, and a physician's assistant reeking of cigarette smoke, they decided to send him to the orthopedic doctor. That meant a drive across town and another 2 hours in a tiny little waiting room with 4 kids in tote. We were told they were still unsure if he fractured his foot. It wasn't showing up on the x-ray, but fractures in children don't always show up because their bones are still so cartilage-like. They splinted it, wrapped it up and sent him home with a walker. Oh yeah...a walker. He got the most sympathetic looks from people as we left the office. All the ladies were making eyes at him as he hobbled through the waiting room. By the time we got home, 10 minutes of him figuring out how this new apparatus worked, it was apparent that it would only be a matter of time before he turned it into his own personal monkey bar. And a few days later, he did just that. I walked into the playroom and caught him standing on top of it. So his foot healed within a week's time and he was almost at full speed again.

I love the picture where he is sitting in the street trying to figure out how he can get out of this mess that he created! What a determined little boy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie and such a manly man!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I hope Nathaniel is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteAmy, if my Ped. made me run around town everytime I needed an x-ray, I'd find another Dr ;-/
